Workshop at ESA 2017: Using KBase for microbial ecology

The upcoming Ecological Society of America conference (ESA 2017) in Portland, Oregon will include a KBase workshop. Organized by KBase team members José Faria and Chris Henry, along with ANL collaborator Pamela Weisenhorn, the topic of the workshop is “Comparative ‘Omics and Modeling Microbial Community Interactions Using the DOE Systems Biology Knowledgebase (KBase).” The workshop, which will take place on August 10 from 11:30am-1:15pm, will demonstrate how to use KBase to perform a useful microbial ecology workflow that includes performing comparative analysis of target organisms and building and evaluating single-organism and microbial community metabolic models. The presenters will discuss how to go from metagenomes to models and will run through the interspecies interaction prediction workflow that is described in a J. Cellular Physiology cover article.
