2018 DOE Genome Sciences Program Meeting

KBase scientists and staff will host two sessions and 14 posters at the invitation-only 2018 DOE Genomic Science Program Annual Principal Investigator (PI) Meeting on February 25-28.

On Monday, February 26, from 1-5 pm, there will be a KBase User Science Presentations session to highlight how DOE researchers are using KBase to advance their research. Research covering the assembly, annotation, comparative genomics and modeling of microbes, fungi, plants and/or their communities will be presented with examples ranging from single genome modeling to large-scale community analysis. Please see the agenda (https://www.orau.gov/gsp2018/agenda.htm) for a complete list of speakers and topics.

On Tuesday, February 27, from 1-5 pm, there will be a KBase Experience Room session to demonstrate how to use data and tools in KBase for research. This session will give both new and returning KBase users an opportunity to test the latest tools in KBase in an interactive setting. Each hour will focus on a specific topic beginning with a 20-minute presentation followed by a 40-minute hands-on session during which individuals may try out the functionality on their own data:

  • 1:00 – 2:00: Introduction to KBase
  • 2:00 – 3:00: Genome sequence assembly to metabolic modeling
  • 3:00 – 4:00: RNA-Seq analysis
  • 4:00 – 5:00: How to integrate new applications into KBase using the SDK
